June 2010 sees the fourth year of Devil City Swing!
In 2007, this swing dancing exchange was the first event of its kind to be held in Tasmania and it went off with a bang. 3 days of jampacked action included dancing, laughing, eating and taking in the sites of Copping and some of the lovely Art Deco buildings of Hobart. There were crazy bus rides in the middle of the night and very tall sailors guarding the entry to the historic Navy Club. To wrap up the weekend, we danced in to the day at a glorious location overlooking the water and the famous Tasman Bridge.
Again in 2008, we crammed even more social dancing, live jazz/blues/swing bands and smokin' DJ's in to one weekend than you and we ever thought possible! The Saturday night ball had us leaving the bright lights of our capital city and venturing north to Kempton and Dysart for a night of devilish delights including the inaugral Jill and Jack. The Art Deco tour was once again a hit and we got all hot and steamy with some local lawn bowlers on Friday night.
In 2009, Devil City Swing returned, by popular demand, to Kempton and Dysart for our Saturday night Ball. If the idea of a cooked breakfast after a big night of dancing floated your ferry, the crew had plenty more treats in store for you! We held the “Suit Up” Ball in amongst many, many other NYC shenanigans and the whole weekend culminated in an all-in group dance.
This year, again by popular demand, we head up north to Kempton and Dysart for the Saturday night "Blackjack" Ball, fine local beer, sweet late night bluesin’ and a Sunday cooked breakfast. Impossibly, we’ve jammed more bands and dj’s into our line up. Don't forget to pick up one of our DCS tees too (free with full weekend pass)!
